6th ECHNO  – Liverpool note / General Assembly note

Also on behalf of C. René Leemans, current EHNS President, it is my privilege and honour to present the latest updates regarding the European Head and Neck Society in the following order:

• 6th ECHNO  – Liverpool note
  The European Congress on Head and Neck Oncology (6th ECHNO) was held in Liverpool, UK on April 24-26, 2014 in the ECHO Convention Centre.  845 delegates attended the congress and there were 718 registrations, 54 speakers, and 73 exhibitors.
• General Assembly note
  The general Assembly was held on April 25th 2014 during 6th ECHNO in Liverpool and a new Board was appointed. 40 Members attended the meeting. 4 prizes for outstanding performance in oral and poster presentations were awarded on behalf of the EHNS.
  Jean Louis Lefebvre, at that time President of the EHNS, C. René Leemans at that time General Secretary, and Guy Andry, Treasurer, introduced a short summary of the EHNS activities of the years 2012 – 2014. The MAKESENSE Campaign, one of our flagship initiatives, was discussed during the meeting. Prof. Sefik Hosal presented the program for the 7th ECHNO to be held in Istanbul in 2016. The budget presented in detail by the treasurer was approved. A call for candidatures for ECHNO 2020 was opened.
• The newly appointed board for the term 2014-2016 was presented and unanimously approved:
  - President: C. René Leemans
  - General Secretary: Wojciech Golusinski
  - Treasurer: Guy Andry
  - Members:
  Lisa Licitra (Medical Oncology), Sat Parmar (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery), Sefik Hosal (Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery), Cai Grau (Radiation Oncology).
