Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon/ Head & Neck/ Reconstructive Surgeon.
Mr. Sat Parmar graduated from the University of Leeds, School of Dentistry in 1986 where he was awarded prizes in Oral surgery, Children's Dentistry and Prosthetics.

  • was awarded the Fellowship in Dentistry of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1990.
  • started Medical School at the University of Nottingham in 1990 where he was awarded a BMedSci in 1993. He graduated in Medicine in 1995 winning the Gold Medal for the best Medical student of the year and the Marsden Prize for outstanding contribution to the University of Nottingham.
  • obtained the Fellowship for Surgeons in General of The Royal College of Surgeons in 1998.
  • passed his Exit Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2002.
  • was appointed as an Oral and Maxillofacial /Head and Neck /Reconstructive Surgeon at the University Hospital of Birmingham in 2003.

He is actively involved in teaching. He is a course instructor for Advanced Trauma and Life Support (ATLS), Trauma skills courses. He also lectures on the European Head and Neck course and the Microvascular courses in Toronto and Florida.  He is the chair of AOUK (Craniofacial) and member of the European Board for AO.  He has lectured nationally and internationally.

He is a council member for the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists (BAHNO).

He carries out most aspects of general Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery but his sub-specialist interest is Salivary Gland/Head and Neck Cancer and Reconstruction.

Lisa Licitra is Board-certified in medical oncology, with special expertise in the treatment of head and neck cancers. She is currently Chief of the Head and Neck Cancer Medical Oncology Unit and Head & Neck research program at the Istituto Nazionale Tumori in Milan, Italy.

Since more than 25 years she is involved in clinical and translational research in the field of head and neck cancer. She is conducting as PI several clinical both sponsored studies but more importantly academic studies with original translational research. She has been recipient of research grants including 2 previous AIRC on head and neck cancer and she was also awarded with the “Guido Venosta” Prize of AIRC.

She is actively involved in international education and research programs for head and neck cancer through EORTC, ESMO; ESTRO as well as national societies like AIOM, AIOCC.

C. René LEEMANS

Professor C. René Leemans, MD, PhD is chair of the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at the VU University Medical Center, Amsterdam since 2002. He is co-director of the VUmc Cancer Centre Amsterdam and Director of the Otolaryngology Residency Program and the Advanced Fellowship Program in Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology at the VU University Medical Centre Amsterdam.
His special interests include head and neck oncology, reconstructive and microvascular surgery, and basic research.

René Leemans has made a sustained and internationally recognised contribution to cancer care and research in the field of head and neck oncology over the past decades. He has published over 350 papers in high profile journals. His scientific standing has been recognised by election as President of the Netherlands Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and the Dutch and, currently European Head and Neck Societies. He also serves on the council of the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncologic Societies (IFHNOS).

He (co-)authored more than 340 papers and book chapters on head and neck oncology and is regularly invited to speak at international conferences and tutor at courses. In 2008 he delivered the First “Milton J. Dance Jr. key-note Lecture” during the 7th International Conference on Head and Neck Cancer in San Francisco, CA, USA. He was a travelling faculty member of 2010 Global CME program “Current Concepts in Head and Neck Surgery and Oncology” of the IFHNOS. He serves on the editorial board of nine peer-reviewed journals.
